Internal Opportunities Beyond Sales

Ive been in sales with Yelp for a little over a year now, always hit quota or above, my manager likes me but I’m really looking to move on to something else. I love the company and benefits are great, just don’t see myself doing sales long term.

I know Yelp always talks about all the growth opportunities and I’ll occasionally check the internal careers portal. Has anyone had success transitioning from sales to something else or know of any opportunities they will give someone a chance at even if they’ve only done sales?

Also what happens if i do see something on the internal careers portal that looks like a good fit? Do i just apply? Should i let my manager know or will he find out anyway? Just don’t want to be talked into staying in sales or to apply and not get the job and then it’s awkward.
