Yelp is the worst for small businesses

When I started my business, I created profiles everywhere to be seen. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of creating a business a profile on Yelp. Immediately, my business phone number was bombarded with scammers. I’m talking literally hundreds of calls per day. If I picked one up accidentally, it started the process all over again. Which then led to eventual spoofing. Which then caused me to change my number completely.

When I called Yelp support and told them what happened, they blamed it on Google and then tried to sell me advertising. I had a profile with Google for around a year before Yelp. It wasn’t a coincidence that the spammers came as soon as that profile was made.

I want SO badly to cancel my account and delete any associations but once you create one, you’re locked in. You can’t delete your address. You can’t delete your phone number. The only way you can get away is by marking your business as perminently closed – even then, the profile is still there.

Recently I’ve gotten 3 calls from a Yelp representative on my new phone number. You know…the one I had to change because of them. Even though my Yelp profile still has the old one, they’ve found me. I fear the WHOLE process is about to start again.

Having the profile didn’t help my business at all – it only hurt my sanity. 😳
